| WHO are we? We are an awareness campaign group, simply put, we are the same as you only we are shouting out to make heard the silenced and silent topic of child pornography and the risk to children both in cyberspace and the real world from the evil of paedophiles and paedophilia in whatever form or context it may arise. WHAT are we doing? We are organising concerts, primarily within the Rock genre, to combine live performance with the strong message that any form of child abuse is not acceptable and that we demand changes that favour the victims of such crimes and more resources to be made available in the field of prevention. Through the medium of music, we can reach out to the thousands who want to see reform for our children in the modern world. HOW do we do this? First of all we need a suitable venue, and then we seek sponsorship to cover any costs that may be incurred. We then invite bands to play in support of our cause, and waive all fees. They play beneath our banner, and spread the word to the crowds who turn up and enjoy a great night of live music. We contact all local media and invite them to attend the event, and also promote the event on local radio, thus making sure we reach as many people as possible with our message. WHY are we doing this? The concept was created in Germany in 2006 when a group of students became frustrated with continually reading horrific stories of abuse in the media and felt that they needed to do something active. So, these young and brilliant minds, spoke, planned, slept very little and after many hours of work, liaising and pulling teeth they pulled off their first Concert to raise awareness. It was a huge success and further concerts have now been help across Europe by our ever growing family of International Teams and more are in the planning stages! But we want to take this even further, and find likeminded people in as many countries as possible who will set up… Rock Against Child Pornography and Abuse …projects and concerts! We will spread the idea that we can ALL DO something to stop crimes against children. We have to start somewhere, and we have started here. If a few young students can pull off such a feat, and inspire others to take up the work…imagine what you could do!! Charity…as we never profit Prior to all of our events we contact various local charity groups close to the venue, and find one that we feel best supports victims of abuse. We invite them to attend in order to promote their own work, and any profit from the particular event will go directly to that group. We openly display the amount we manage to raise and the distribution of it on both My Space and here on the Home Page. We know it won’t ever be millions, but every penny helps, and if we manage to save just one child, then all the work will have been worthwhile. We never at any time profit from any RACPA related work, because as we say… We Don’t Want Your Money…We Want Change!!! And the changes we want are… It needs to start with educating the children, equipping them to feel safe and confident enough to be able to report any kind of inappropriate advances and making sure that reporting procedures are simple and effective in both the real world and on the Internet. Filtering and monitoring software should be fitted as standard or supplied free to schools, libraries and parents.
And we need YOUR help… And there are many ways you can help us!! You could start by attending our concerts in your area…finding out the facts of about child pornography and sexual abuse, and why we are fighting so hard for changes. Learn about the sentencing of convicted paedophiles and abusers, the sex offenders register, post release monitoring…all the important issues that affect us all, no matter whom we are. Make a difference in your own community by reporting any abuse of children to the relevant authorities, in this culture of “I don’t want to get involved, and nothing gets done anyway” it is the easy option to shrug and ignore what you see, we ask that you do NOT do that, get involved!! You could be the one voice that saves a child’s life!! Don’t skip over the stories in the media, yes, they are hard to look at sometimes, and they break your heart with their horror sometimes, but get angry about it…and then start asking your governmental representatives where they stand on the issues, and what they are doing about making desperately needed changes. Join us in asking the questions that they don’t have answers for…and then begin demanding that they find them! |
